This mostly flat 13 km ride leaves Nussdorf and follows the Danube Cycle Path north to the magnificent baroque monastery of Klosterneuburg, an easy half-day escape from the city.
Route overview
From Nussdorf the path runs along the river on the Donauradweg, smooth and almost entirely flat until the very end.
Only the short final stretch up to Stift Klosterneuburg involves a gentle rise, so the effort stays modest throughout.
What you will see
You ride with open Danube views, passing the river's edge, wooded banks and the suburban fringe where Vienna meets the Wienerwald hills.
The reward at the end is Klosterneuburg Monastery, a vast baroque abbey with a famous wine cellar and sweeping views over the valley.
Tips for the ride
Allow time to tour the abbey and taste its wines; the climb to the gates is short but noticeable after the flat riverside section.
When you are tired, simply roll back or take the regional train from Klosterneuburg back to Vienna with your bike.
