This flat, car-free ride follows the Danube Canal from Friedensbrücke down to the Prater tip, threading through the lively heart of Vienna in about 35 minutes.
Route overview
Starting at Friedensbrücke, the path hugs the water past Schwedenplatz and the Urania observatory before opening up towards the Prater.
It is completely flat and separated from traffic, which makes it ideal for a first ride, an evening spin or a quick crosstown shortcut.
What you will see
Expect colourful murals, floating bars and urban beaches in summer, with plenty of cafés to stop along the banks.
The tour connects naturally to the Ringstrasse loop and the Danube Island, so you can easily extend it.
Tips for the ride
Mornings are quietest; summer evenings are liveliest but busy near the bars. Watch for pedestrians on shared sections.
Bike-sharing stations are dense along the canal, so you can pick up or drop off a bike at either end.
