This flat, fully car-free loop traces the long, narrow Danube Island between the Danube and the New Danube, linking swimming spots, beach bars and quiet nature in around 90 minutes.
Route overview
Starting near Reichsbrücke, the smooth asphalt path runs the length of the island and back along the opposite bank, so you never share the route with cars.
At about 24 km and almost completely flat, it suits beginners, families and anyone wanting a relaxed day in the saddle.
What you will see
The lively northern half offers the Sunken City and Copa Beach bars, popular swimming steps and crowds of sunbathers on hot days.
Towards the southern tip the island turns wild and quiet at the Toter Grund nature area, a haven for birds and shady picnics.
Tips for the ride
Bring a swimsuit and water; the island has little shade in the open stretches and gets hot in midsummer.
Weekday mornings are calmest, while summer weekends are busy near the beaches, so keep your speed down around pedestrians.
